2024 Chamber Music Coaching
Kia ora koutou
I am pleased to advise that Music Futures will this year offer chamber music coaching on 25 and 26 May.
The coaching will be open to all those groups registered for the secondary schools contest run by Chamber Music New Zealand.
Each session will be led by a professional musician.
Dates: Wellington 25 and 26 May
Venue: ACR, NZSM, Victoria University of Wellington
Convenor: Martin Riseley
If you or a group that you tutor wish to register for the Wellington sessions please do so with Martin no later than 3 May: martin.riseley@vuw.ac.nz
Martin will acknowledge your request with a short email reply.
(In the case you do not hear back from him please email again - occasionally these emails jump into junk mail).
Please provide the name of your group, individual name and schools of group members, the piece you will be performing in the contest and the instruments you are playing so that Martin can ‘match’ tutors to your needs.
Please appoint one member of your group (or a parent) as your key contact with email and phone number.
Martin will then put together a schedule and advise you of your slot.
For those groups who participate in the coaching we will hold an informal concert at 1 pm on Sunday 26 May.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get used to performing in the ACR where the district round will be held.
We will offer light lunch on Sunday 26 May for students at 12 noon (families are welcome to join in).
We will select two or three groups from participants to perform in our mid-year ’Sound of Youth Music’ concert on Friday 26 July at 6 pm.
We are able to offer this coaching free of charge thanks to two generous grants - one from the TG McCarthy Trust and an anonymous grant via The Gift Trust.
Coaching for Kapiti Coast students is being arranged separately through Gioia Brunoro at Kapiti College.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Please also feel free to pass on this information to colleagues, parents and students.
