Greetings Members and Supporters
We are currently firming up our programme for 2023 and as usual we have some good things lined up during the year.

Please pass on this information to any young school-age musician you think is deserving of an award. Thanks to the TG Macarthy Trust we are organising coaching during May and our convenors, Martin Riseley and Brigid O’Meeghan, are beginning to work on programmes for Wellington and Kapiti. The committee has agreed to sponsor an NZSO National Youth Orchestra member from the Wellington region again this year. Last year we sponsored Benjamin Carter, promising young cellist and pianist, who has gone on to study piano at New Zealand School of Music with Jian Liu. We wish him all the best.

June – Sponsorship of an NZSO National Youth Orchestra player
July – Sound of Youth Music Concert

Wednesday 10 May, 6 pm – Annual General Meeting, NZSO Board Room. Level 8 Findex House, 57 Willis St
During 2022 maintaining music teaching through COVID outbreaks was especially challenging for schools and therefore hard for our young musicians and their teachers to keep a flow of activities going. Nevertheless we were thrilled to be able to run a pretty full programme. Congratulations to all those students who managed to participate and perform in our events. We hope 2023 will be easier for everyone and we look forward to some exciting music-making.
We really rely on your help to support many talented young school-age musicians. We assist with fees for lessons and workshops, instrument loan and repair, and preparation for competitions through coaching and performance. We love seeing our MF ‘graduates’ go on to study at university; or they pop up in Orchestra Wellington or even NZSO. Help us to grow our future professional musicians through your donations. In a good year, we can reach several hundred young high school musicians across the region.
Our annual membership fee is $25 per person. If you make a donation over and above your membership fee, you can claim a third back from IRD, as we are a registered charitable organisation (Charities Registration number: CC48539).
Please pay your subscription or donation direct into our bank account by internet transfer and provide your name in the reference box or make a deposit at Kiwibank. Please provide Annette Lendrum, our Treasurer, with your details by email if we do not already have them: [email protected]
